Not necessarily. Every programme on this list accepts strong honours graduates from business, social science, psychology, law, economics, or related fields. University of Limerick and NCI are particularly conversion-friendly and accept any honours discipline. Trinity and UCD Smurfit prefer business or social science backgrounds but consider strong candidates from other fields. UCC accepts 2:2 + 2 years relevant work experience as an alternative route.
No — HR Manager is not on Ireland’s Critical Skills Occupations List as of 2026. We want to be upfront: this means the visa pathway is via the General Employment Permit (GEP) rather than the Critical Skills route. After your Masters, you’ll use the Stamp 1G post-study visa (24 months full-time work rights), then most HR roles convert to a General Employment Permit (GEP) once you secure a job. The GEP route is longer to Stamp 4 than the Critical Skills route, but the 24-month Stamp 1G window is generous and the HR job market in Ireland is active. Always verify the latest list at enterprise.gov.ie.
All seven HRM programmes on this list require IELTS 6.5 overall. Trinity and DCU specify no band below 6.0. University of Galway specifies writing 6.5 with no band below 6.0.
